YPARD serves as a global platform through which young professionals can express their ideas and realise their full potential towards a dynamic agricultural research for development.
YPARD is the only organization with a global scope that strives to make youth voices heard in debates on the future of agricultural research for development.
Unfortunately, unlike in China, India or countries of the African continent, YPARD is not actively present in the Central Asia and the Caucasus (CAC) region. This is a challenge, as well as an opportunity for Central Asia and the Caucasus young professionals to join, debate, act and participate! Let’s create a strong YPARD in CAC!
The Coherence in Information for Agricultural Research for Development (CIARD) initiative is working to make agricultural research information publicly available and accessible to all. This means working with organisations that hold information or that create new knowledge – to help them disseminate it more efficiently and make it easier to access.
CACAARI is one of the fifteen “core partners” in CIARD initiative, and the only one from CIS.
The Global Forum’s mission is to mobilize all stakeholders involved in agricultural research and innovation systems for development, and to support their efforts to alleviate poverty, increase food security and promote the sustainable use of natural resources.
CACAARI is among the stakeholders of GFAR and is one of the six Fora that constitute it.
Established in 1977, the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) is one of the 15 centers strategically located all over the world and supported by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). With its main research station and offices based in Aleppo, Syria, ICARDA works through a network of partnerships with national, regional and international institutions, universities, non-governmental organizations and ministries in the developing world; and with advanced research institutes in industrialized countries.
ICARDA-CAC program has been a crucial partner to GFAR in establishing CACAARI. Even currently ICARDA is kindly providing in-kind and financial support to CACAARI.
Your kind attention is drawn to a letter below from Dr Ismail Serageldin, former Vice-President, World Bank and Chairman, CGIAR, Founder & Director Emeritus GFAR concerning endorsement of a joint letter to be addressed to UN, G 20, and National Leaders in different countries concerning "COVID-19 and Agriculture for Food and Nutrition Security ".
It will be highly appreciated if you could kindly go through the draft and convey soon your willingness (provided you agree) to be a signatory (along with designation and affiliation) directly to Mr Sarwat Hussain on his mail id:(firstname.lastname@example.org), as desired by Dr Ismail Serageldin.
With best regards.
Raj Paroda, GFAR Chair 1998-2002
