CACAARI Activities

Currently CACAARI work evolves around the following activities:

  • Regional preparations for GCARD 2010: drafting and publications of a regional review and its discussions through an electronic platform and at face-to-face meetings.
  • Expanding membership from initial eight founding members to a wide array of stakeholders: farmers, private sector, non-governmental organizations, extension system, educational establishment and state bodies. This includes creation of two new Consortia under CACAARI – Consortium of NGOs and Consortium of Farmer Organizations.
  • Expanding the activities of the Young Professionals’ Platform for Agricultural Research for Development (YPARD) to Central Asia and Caucasus. Assistant Executive Secretary will be presenting a regional input for YPARD Business Plan on August 24-26 in Rome, Italy.
  • Knowledge-sharing and communications among Central Asia and Caucasus agricultural research institutions. For this, we are striving to keep an up-to-date Regional Agricultural Information System (RAIS) and set up an electronic archive of publications and publicity material from partner and constituent institutions.
