What should be the priorities of agricultural research and innovation? What should be the priorities of publicly funded international agricultural research in the context of development? What should be the priorities of the CGIAR and its partners in research, development and the private sector? And how do these priorities refer to the sustainable development of the millennium?

The ASNIOCAC secretariat is pleased to announce the planning of the Third Global Conference on Agricultural Research for Development.

What should be the priorities of agricultural research and innovation? What should be the priorities of publicly funded international agricultural research in the context of development? What should be the priorities of the CGIAR and its partners in research, development and the private sector? And how do these priorities refer to the sustainable development of the millennium?

The CGIAR is in the process of developing a new strategy that will set such priorities, and will provide a concrete framework for its results, with targeted investments that lead to transformative development outcomes.

The online survey will take place in two stages: elements of the SRF from today to December and completed consultations from January to February 2015

Phase 1: CGIAR stakeholder consultation on the draft Strategy and Results framework (SRF):November-December 2014

The main elements of the SRF consultation of the first stage are currently developed and can be found on the GKSHIR web page and on the website CGIAR.

These include:

• email address for feedback - partnerships@cgiar.org;

• Online survey on https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CGIAR_GFAR-SRFconsultation ;

• Online version of strategies and results that is available for comments;

• the final consultation document is available at http://bit.ly/1AGCYSL;

* there will be a weekly "challenge" program created for conversations and questions (schedule to be announced later);

• all reviews and comments will be collected and all materials will be posted on the dedicated Internet space.

Phase 2: CGIAR Stakeholder Consultation: Final draft of the Strategy and Results Frameworks (SRF): January-February 2015.

Stakeholders and partners will offer their comments on the draft strategy structures and results, which will be released at the end of January 2015-before the final version, which should be approved in April-May 2015. Stakeholders ' comments and comments will be taken into account before the final version is released.

This process was temporarily suspended due to the decision of the Fund Board, which instructed the ISPC and the consortium to immediately begin consultations on the draft Strategy and Results Framework (SRF). There were problems with the SRF consultation process being considered as part of the GKSHIR3 process and not as a consultation outside of that process. The GFCI intends to make every effort to ensure the well-being of the joint process by avoiding any confusion between partners and stakeholders. The GFCI believes that they have achieved this, but effective consultations take a long time and there is also a short lead time for consultations on the draft Strategy and Results Framework (SRF) defined by the Fund Board. To improve this, a number of mechanisms have been put in place to provide input for consultation. These mechanisms are not perfect for stimulating additional questions and debates that may arise later after a number of items in the online survey.

In this regard, we ask you to assist in setting priorities for international agricultural research for development. There can be no sustainable development without agriculture. Without research, there will be no innovation with which we ensure the sustainability of agricultural food systems.
