On March 4, 2014, the Tashkent State Agrarian University hosted an event in memory of Zakir Khalikulov with the participation of representatives of International organizations, the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, the Uzbek Scientific and Production Center of Agriculture, research institutes, as well as colleagues, colleagues, teachers and students of Zakir Khalikulov.

Zakir Khalikulov, a member of the Steering Committee of the Association of Agricultural Research Organizations of Central Asia and the Caucasus, a well-known scientist, a role model for young people, a man with titanic energy and love for business, a true patriot and a fighter for the progress and development of agricultural research, died suddenly at the age of 62.

He was a truly gifted and talented person, an indomitable scientist, researcher, talented organizer, teacher, teacher, one of the founders of the Association of Agricultural Research Organizations in Central Asia and the Caucasus.

He was well known in many educational, scientific research institutions and organizations in our 8 countries of the Central Asia and Caucasus region, as well as in many countries of the world where he worked and was on official business trips.

Zakir Khalikulov made a significant contribution to the formation and development of our regional Association, which he wanted to transform into a forum that is now adequately represented among other regional and continental forums on agricultural development in the Global Agricultural Development Platform.

He was directly involved in the formation of the Association, including National Agricultural Systems, consortia of agricultural universities, NGOs and farmers ' organizations, which were created with his active and persistent participation.

Among them, he won high respect and admiration.

Zakir Khalikulov, a member of the Steering Committee of the Association of Agricultural Research Organizations of Central Asia and the Caucasus from international research organizations, has always generated ideas and actions, thanks to which our representatives participated for the first time at the Global Conference in Montpellier in 2010 in France, and then this process was continued in Punta del Este in 2012 in Uruguay.

He was one of the first in all international forums and events to insist and seek the participation of our region and our representatives in the Global Process of Agricultural Research for Development.

He is well known and remembered in the Secretariat of the Global Forum for Agricultural Research for Development.

Zakir Khalikulov was convinced that the region needs close cooperation with international agricultural research organizations and he managed to convince others of this as well: ICARDA, IFPRI, IRRI, SIMMIT, ATSIRO are associate members of the Association.

Among his special achievements was the initiative of close cooperation of the Association with the Agricultural Center of Moscow State University (Eurasian Center for Food Security).

Zakir Khalikulov firmly believed in the importance of partnership, knowledge sharing and capacity building and strengthening the National Agricultural Systems of the countries of the region.

His death is a great loss for the scientific community of the countries that are members of our Association. His deeds and initiatives will continue for the benefit of our region of Central Asia and the Caucasus.
